Lausanne, Switzerland – Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra delivered a remarkable performance at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024, securing a second-place finish with a season-best throw of 89.49 meters. The event, held on Friday, saw Chopra save his best for the last, as he achieved this impressive distance in his sixth and final attempt.

This throw not only marks Chopra’s season best but also stands as his second-best throw ever, just short of his personal record of 89.94 meters set at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. His earlier attempts in Lausanne were measured at 82.10m, 83.21m, 83.13m, 82.34m, and 85.58m, demonstrating his consistent form throughout the competition.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters clinched first place with a meet record and season-best throw of 90.61 meters, while Germany’s Julian Weber secured third place with a best throw of 87.08 meters.

Neeraj Chopra’s performance in Lausanne underscores his standing as one of the premier javelin throwers globally, as he continues to excel on the international stage.
